Some of the common mistakes seen in the Gulf region in
generator room designs are mainly related to air handling and ventilation. The
temperature exhaust gas should not be direct in the area of air intake which is
usually on the sides or better in the alternator side. Also, it is not
recommended to install the enclosed generator in a room to achieve lower noise
levels. The heat deception in closed generators is usually designed to flow
free in outdoor installation, while in a room it would be circulating in the
room and would result in raising the temperature in the room in matter of
minutes.
It is also recommended to make your radiator duct in enlarging design to be 1.5 time the square meter of the radiator. Designs need to keep in mind the repair maintenance crew maneuverability around the generator and lifting aids such as cranes and hoists inside the room for easily removal of the generator heavy components after few years.
